Creative Brushes is the artistic concept of artist Brien Cole. Brien’s oil paintings have been described as colorful, vibrant, detailed and relaxing, with the ability draw its viewer into the painting. Each painting is carefully sketched on canvas before a single brush stroke is applied, or in his words “Every good painting, begins with a good sketch”. His paintings are about more than just pieces of artwork but about experiences.
Coming from a family of musicians and as an accomplished musician himself, the inspiration for his paintings are a natural extension of his love for music, family and friends. A self-taught artist, who has been drawing since the age of six, his paintings focus on abstract musical themes and still life subjects of wine and food with a focus on Maryland and Virginia wines. This combination naturally invokes memories of good food, music, wine and fine art shared with family and friends.
